HELEN HREEN, PRESIDENT

Originally from the Cleveland, Ohio area, Helen is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a Masters in Social Service Administration.  Employed for 10 years at Metro General Hospital, she worked in Maternal Services for underprivileged women and also in kidney dialysis unit of the same hospital.

She was accepted into an international exchange program for social workers and spent a year in France, where she studied for six months at the Alliance Francaise in Paris and then completed a six-month internship.

Upon returning to the states, she relocated to Pittsburgh and was the Director of Physician Marketing for Mercy Hospital for 10 years. Eventually moving to Florida in 1993, she worked at the marketing director for Shands Hospital Home Health Care division in Bradenton/Sarasota for five years.  Expanding her career in health care, she  spent the next 25 years in the health insurance business where she specialized in Medicare and Long Term Heath Insurance. 

Hoping to relearn the French she lost, she took online classes during Covid with the Alliance Francaise of Sarasota and continues her studies currently.  She joined the AF Board in September of 2024 and became President in January 2025.
